My name is Greg Stewart. I began my automotive career while attending the University of Kansas. (Rock Chalk, Jayhawk.) It was while I was in school that I established, owned and operated Courtesy Traveland, a combination RV and motorcycle dealership in Lawrence, Kansas selling ElDorado motorhomes, Skyline travel trailers, Suzuki motorcycles and Puch models.
After a few year's experience on the retail side of the RV business, I moved back to my hometown of Minneapolis, Kansas to become a part of the RV manufacturing business known as ElDorado Motor Corporation; a small publicly-traded company.
Beginning as the Sales and Marketing Director, I eventually became the President and Chief Operating Officer of the Company. Over the years, ElDorado went from a small RV manufacturer to the seventh largest motorhome builder and the largest small to mid-sized bus manufacturer in the United States.
During my tenure with ElDorado, I was fortunate to become the youngest-ever elected member to the Recreational Vehicle Industry Association (RVIA) Board of Directors. This is the primary governing body for all RV manufacturing in the United States and it is, I'm proud to say, the same Association for which my father, Robert Stewart, served as President during the difficult oil embargo years of the early 1970's.
In the early 1980's, I purchased the local General Motors dealers, Town & Country Automotive Group. This dealership held the franchises for the Chevrolet, Oldsmobile, Buick and Pontiac brands. Town & Country was always a leader in outstanding sales achievements, exemplary customer satisfaction and high-level employee training standards.
While a GM dealer, I worked particularly closely with Chevrolet serving on several Councils and consulting on several different teams. In the mid-1990's, I was elected by my fellow Chevrolet dealers to represent all Chevrolet dealers from the states of Kansas, Nebraska, Oklahoma and western Missouri on the Chevrolet National Dealer Council. I also served three years as a member of both the Chevrolet Education & Training team and the Chevrolet National Marketing Strategy team.
Having always been taught to 'give back' to your local community, after my tenure on the Chevrolet National Dealer Council, I ran for and was elected Mayor of the City of Minneapolis and found this to be a very worthwhile and rewarding experience.
I operated Town & Country Automotive Group for nearly 20 years until, in 2001, I sold the dealership. About a year later, my family and I moved to Scottsdale, Arizona.
After relocating to Arizona, I worked for several local automobile dealers, both Franchised and Independent. Most of my efforts and expertise was directed in the area of Finance Operations. I served as both Finance Manager/Producer and as Finance Director for both high-line and high-volume dealerships. When combined with my rural 'one-on-one' automotive experience, the combination has provided me with a well-rounded background and understanding of the daily operations of all stores... big, little, rural and metro.
After a rather serious medical setback in 2009, I realized I should probably try to 'work myself out' of retail automotive in 2011. It was then that I formed the predecessor to Auto Dealer One (Stewart Automotive Solutions) providing Franchised and Independent dealers with excellent, profit-generating products for the Finance & Insurance departments. I believe I bring a unique skill set to this position. Having been a dealer and a Finance Producer, I understand the products, I understand the dealer's objectives, and I understand the Producer's objectives.
In the beginning, my business served just the Greater Phoenix Area. Today, our Auto Dealer One dealer network extends from Florida to Hawaii. And, the agency has grown to include ten providers offering nearly every product a dealer could need. I attribute this growth, in large part, to my philosophy of always making myself available to my dealers. If you choose us become a partner in your F&I operations, you'll come to understand even better the importance of this attribute.
My wife (Lu Ann) and I have been married for nearly 45 years. We grew up as childhood friends and sweethearts having known one another since the age of 4 and never really living more than a block or two away from one another. We grew up, we attended school, enjoyed recess, went to proms and homecomings together and then, of course, got married.
We've been blessed with five children and eight grandchildren. In chronological order, they are...
